Two volumes belonging to a Grenoble engineer, acquired in 1957. A complete set, rare to find. J. Quinet's Elementary Course of Higher Mathematics is published by Dunod, 92 rue Bonaparte, Paris (6th), in the "Bibliothèque de l'Enseignement Technique" collection. The preface is signed by R. Barthélemy, Member of the Academy of Sciences. The work is intended for engineers, engineering students, various technicians, and students. This set includes the first two volumes of the series, which comprises six in total. Volume I (2nd edition) covers Algebraic Complements, Derivatives, and their Applications. Volume II (new printing, 1956) deals with Series Expansions, Calculus of Imaginary Numbers, Differential Calculus, and applications. The following volumes cover integral calculus, differential equations, and plane analytic geometry. Volume II bears a handwritten ex-libris: H. Laurent, 1957, P.S.T. Grenoble No. 6. A library call number appears on the title page. These two volumes have been used, having accompanied an engineering training in Grenoble during the 1950s. The original softcover bindings are preserved with their kraft paper dust jackets. Spines rubbed. Interior clean, text and figures clear, some pages yellowed.
