About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
For sale is this masterfully crafted, curved writing cabinet (slant-front secretary) in the opulent Louis XV style. An absolutely decorative unique piece that impresses with its organic forms and artisanal details.
Special design features:
• Bombé shape: The front of the secretary and the two large drawers in the lower part are elegantly three-dimensionally curved (bombé) – typical for baroque design.
• Fine marquetry / inlays: The writing flap, the drawer fronts, and the side panels are elaborately veneered with various precious woods (including walnut). The highlight is the light, delicate inlays with floral motifs, vases, and classic garlands (see detail photos).
• Interior (Nest): Opening the writing flap reveals a charming and practical interior with two small drawers and open compartments for letters, documents, or writing utensils.
• Fittings: The handles and key escutcheons are made of artfully decorated, patinated metal fittings in Rococo style.
Condition:
The secretary is in a very well-maintained, clean, and stable condition. The veneer has a beautiful, warm sheen. There are only minimal, age-appropriate signs of wear that give the piece of furniture character – no breaks or deep scratches.
A timeless classic that works excellently as a stylish contrast in modern interiors or as a highlight in the work and living area.
Collection & Shipping:
Due to its weight, collection by the buyer is preferred. Alternatively, transport can be arranged via a transport company commissioned by you or the Whoppah courier service.
