The Lota sofa by ClassiCon was designed by Eileen Gray. The sofa consists of several separate elements that together form a classically designed sofa set. The loose back and side cushions are upholstered, and the side boxes are finished in high-gloss lacquered MDF in black and gray. The boxes are mounted on rollers; the front and back are always black.
Madame Mathieu-Levy's apartment on Rue de Lota in Paris was considered one of the most sensational examples of French interior design from the 1920s. Eileen Gray named one of her showpieces, the Lota sofa with its opulent cushions and multicolored lacquered side panels, after this Parisian street.
