About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a side table based on the iconic E1027 design by Irish architect and designer Eileen Gray. The piece is a celebrated example of Modernist furniture, recognised for its intelligent construction and minimalist aesthetic.
The table features a frame crafted from chrome-plated tubular steel, supporting a circular clear glass top. Its defining characteristic is the adjustable height mechanism, a feature Gray designed for versatility, allowing it to be used as a bedside table or positioned over the arm of a chair. The design's name is a code for Eileen Gray and her collaborator Jean Badovici, reflecting its personal origins for their villa in the south of France.
This example is in a well-maintained condition, presenting a clean and functional interpretation of the classic design. The chrome structure retains its reflective finish, and the glass surface is clear, upholding the visual lightness intended by the designer. The piece stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of early 20th-century functionalism.
Its versatile form makes it a suitable addition to a variety of interior spaces. It can function as a side table in a living area, complementing a sofa or lounge chair, or serve as a practical nightstand in a bedroom. The table integrates seamlessly into minimalist, Bauhaus, or contemporary settings.
