About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
The Bofinger stacking chair, designed by Helmut Bätzner in 1964, represents a significant milestone in twentieth-century furniture design. Produced by Bofinger, this set of eight chairs is celebrated as one of the earliest examples of mass-produced, single-piece plastic seating, embodying the innovative spirit of the era. Constructed entirely from durable fiberglass-reinforced plastic, the chairs feature a fluid, sculptural silhouette that allows for seamless stacking. This specific set includes four chairs in a deep black finish and four in a soft white tone, offering a striking monochromatic contrast. The molded construction ensures both structural integrity and ergonomic support, reflecting Bätzner's commitment to functionalism. The underside of the seating retains the original Bofinger-Produktion manufacturer's mark, authenticating their provenance. The set remains in good vintage condition, preserving the structural soundness of the original design. The plastic surfaces display a natural patina consistent with age and careful use, retaining their characteristic glossy finish while showcasing the authentic character of mid-century manufacturing. These iconic chairs serve as a versatile seating solution for contemporary dining spaces, creative studios, or minimalist interiors. Their stackable nature and striking Space Age aesthetic make them an ideal addition for collectors seeking historically significant design pieces that remain highly functional in modern environments.
