Eichholtz, Model Orion, in Savona Midnight Blue Velour on Tapered Brass Legs.
The form does its job in a single movement. The backrest is slightly shell-shaped and flows seamlessly into the arms; beneath it lies a single generous seat cushion spanning the full width. No seams to break the curve, no loose cushions that lose their alignment. The result is a sofa that is just as finished from the back as it is from the front — it deserves to stand freely in the room.
The deep blue velour changes with the light, from almost black in the shade to bright navy blue in daylight. The brass legs counteract this with just enough warmth to prevent the whole from becoming cool.
With a width of 224 cm and a seat height of 45 cm, you sit lower and more relaxed here than on a standard sofa. Intended to sink into, not to sit upright on.
Neat, well-maintained condition: The velvet is clean and even with light signs of use. The frame is sturdy.
This is a sofa from the current Eichholtz collection, designed in the style of the mid-20th century. Not a vintage piece. Standard retail price: € 3,995.
