Product description
Cab 413 Armchairs by Mario Bellini for Cassina, 1979 – Matching Early Edition Set in Rich Burgundy Leather
Iconic Free-Standing Saddle Leather Armchairs with Sculptural Elegance
Designed by the visionary Italian architect Mario Bellini in 1979, the Cab 413 armchair remains one of the most influential chair designs of the 20th century. This early edition matching set—rarely found together in such fine, original condition—is a perfect example of Cassina’s mastery in leather craftsmanship. A sculptural form that fuses body and structure, Bellini’s Cab takes its cues from the anatomical relationship between skin and skeleton, offering an organic, enveloping seat that is both refined and comfortable.
Handcrafted from premium saddle-stitched cowhide leather, these chairs are sheathed entirely in thick, burgundy-dyed hide. The material forms an elegant tension over a steel internal frame, zipped tight at the base like a bespoke garment—an iconic Bellini touch. The color is a warm oxblood-bordeaux hue, subtly patinated with age and use, giving the set a soulful, lived-in presence that enhances its collectible appeal.
The padded seat, back, and armrests create an inviting silhouette for long evenings of dining or conversation. This set exudes a sophisticated yet relaxed charm, perfect for bohemian, brutalist, or Japandi interiors. Whether used as dining chairs, statement desk chairs, or accent pieces, their architectural strength and subtle softness elevate any space.
These early-production models from a single original owner are preserved in good vintage condition, showing honest wear consistent with age and care. No structural issues or repairs—just the kind of character true collectors cherish.
