About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
Early edition of „Verspanntes Regal“
Design Wolfgang Laubersheimer / Pentagon Group
Handmade from untreated flat steal with visible welding points. Flat steel bent, held in shape by a steel cable this shelf has an an outstanding sculptural character due to it‘s materiality and artistic formgiving.
The five members of the Pentagon Group were amongst the most recognized members of the movement that became known as „Neues Deutsches Design“.
Turning away from the functional industrial design practice and towards an artistic design ideal the members of Pentagon realized numerous items from unusual or experimental material combinations, most typical from untreated flat steel.
Pentagon objects reflect on furniture design and everyday culture itself, often seeking political meaning and criticizing mass culture. Pieces were self-produced and many only realized in low quantities. The braced shelf maybe is the most popular object of their collaboration.
