An early and highly collectible edition of De Sede’s celebrated DS-80 daybed, crafted in Switzerland in the 1970s. With its deep brown to burgundy hues and richly aged patina, this piece embodies the tactile, soulful quality that has made De Sede a mainstay of vintage Swiss modernism. Ideal for interiors embracing Ibizan, bohemian, or Japandi aesthetics, it offers a visual anchor steeped in character and sophistication.
This daybed features De Sede’s signature hand-patched leather—an artisanal process that stitches together leftover full-grain hides into a unified, quilted masterpiece. The leather has aged beautifully into a soft, burgundy-toned surface with a fantastic patina. Though two leather tiles have been replaced over time, the change blends discreetly into the patchwork’s organic rhythm, barely distinguishable from the original sections.
The condition of the daybed is structurally excellent, with no damage—only the honest signs of age that enrich its authenticity. The leather is supple, deeply creased, and full of expressive grain. The foam retains its form and comfort, and the iconic grid tufting remains intact. The open slatted wood frame—finished in satin black lacquer—adds a sculptural, floating quality to the design.
Beyond its elegance, the DS-80 remains a functional classic: equally suitable as a daybed, guest bed, or modular lounge element. Its low silhouette and architectural lines offer a calm, grounded presence in any space.
