Designed by Mario Bellini in 1979 for Cassina, the Cab 413 armchair remains one of the most defining expressions of Italian modernism — a perfect fusion of structure, material, and human form.
This matching early-edition set, preserved in remarkable original condition, showcases the distinctive qualities that separate first-generation examples from later reissues: a softer, more organic drape of hide over the steel skeleton, creating a subtle play of tension and volume.
The color is a deep oxblood burgundy with earthy undertones that shift between burnt sienna, tobacco, and dark terracotta, depending on the light. Over the decades, the natural vegetable-tanned leather has developed a warm satin patina, giving these pieces a uniquely tactile and soulful presence.
