Vintage sculpture of a kissing couple, originally popularized as interior decoration in the 1980s and 90s. It depicts a man and a woman in an intimate, romantic embrace. This specific design has been produced in various materials and colors, including ceramic, plaster, and synthetic resin, as well as in various glazes such as dark blue or this specific deep red. Today, these iconic postmodern objects are highly sought after.
This ceramic sculpture, a product of Dutch design from the 1980s, shows an intimate embrace. The work, known as 'Kissing Couple', is a characteristic example of the postmodern aesthetic that was popular during that period.
Crafted from plateel, a type of glazed earthenware, the sculpture presents a stylized representation of two figures. The sculpture is executed in a deep, purplish-red color with a subtle shimmer in the finish, which gives the object a special texture and depth. The design is representative of the expressive and often figurative formal language of postmodernism in the Netherlands.
The sculpture is in good condition, consistent with its age. The original finish and color are well preserved, maintaining its authentic character. The form and material testify to the craftsmanship and design trends of the 80s.
As a decorative object, this sculpture adds an artistic and historical element to various interior styles. It is a suitable accent for a dresser, a bookshelf, or a side table, where it forms a subtle conversation piece.
When shipped, the item will be carefully packed to prevent damage.
