This vintage Philips Biosol table lamp, model 11912/08, is a characteristic example of industrial Dutch design from the 1950s. The design combines robust functionality with a streamlined aesthetic, making this specific model a valued object within the canon of post-war Mid-Century Modern design.
The lamp is crafted from durable metal and finished in a subtle beige color scheme typical of the production period. The fixture features an adjustable shade, protected by a metal grid that encloses the powerful heat lamp. The original markings and the authentic Philips emblem are clearly visible on the base, confirming the origin and authenticity of this piece produced in the Netherlands. The construction reflects the high industrial production standards of that era.
The object is in good, functional condition with an authentic patina that underscores its historical value. The original finish has been preserved, with natural signs of age contributing to the lamp's industrial character. The wiring and the original plug are intact, preserving the historical integrity of the design.
This distinctive lighting object serves as a sculptural accent in a contemporary interior. The lamp comes into its own particularly well on a minimalist sideboard or a robust desk, where the industrial silhouette forms a fascinating contrast with modern or eclectic interiors.
