Beautiful, minimalist coffee table or side table, designed in the 1960s by Coen de Vries for Gispen (model 3686). The table is recognizable by the black metal elements on the sides, halfway up the frame. A timeless design. The frame is made of chrome-plated metal in combination with black lacquered metal; the tabletop is made of white laminated wood. The table is in good condition with signs of wear consistent with its age. There is one very small chip on the edge of the tabletop. Please see the photos for a good impression.
A minimalist coffee table, designed by Coen de Vries for the Dutch manufacturer Gispen in 1967. This piece is a representative example of post-war Dutch functionalism, characterized by clean lines and honest use of materials. The design combines an industrial frame with a light, floating top, resulting in a timeless aesthetic.
The construction consists of a square frame of chrome-plated metal, which forms a solid yet elegant base. The tabletop is made of white veneer, inlaid in a black lacquered wooden edge that creates a subtle graphic contrast. This piece of furniture is a product of Dutch craftsmanship from the late 1960s and embodies the clear and rational design principles of that period.
The table is in good, used condition consistent with its age and use. Its structural integrity is fully intact, and the piece retains its authentic character and appearance. The combination of materials has developed a subtle patina over the years.
Thanks to its compact and versatile design, this coffee table fits effortlessly into various interior styles, from Mid-Century Modern to contemporary minimalist. It can serve as a central point in a seating area or as a functional side table next to a sofa or armchair.
