About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
A set of four King Costes chairs, designed by the influential French designer Philippe Starck for the Italian manufacturer Driade. This design is an icon of postmodernism and was originally created for the legendary Café Costes in Paris in 1984. The chair is characterized by its striking three-legged structure and the enveloping, curved backrest.
The construction consists of a shell of bent wood with a warm, natural finish, resting on a frame of grey lacquered steel. The seat is upholstered in cream-colored leather, which forms an elegant contrast with the dark wood and the industrial metal base. The design masterfully combines classic materials with an avant-garde form, resulting in a timeless yet distinctive piece of furniture.
These chairs are in good condition, consistent with their age and use. The materials have developed an authentic patina that contributes to the character and history of the objects. The construction is solid, and the chairs are fully functional, ready for a new destination.
Thanks to their sculptural quality, the King Costes chairs function both as comfortable dining chairs and as standalone design objects in a living room, office, or reception area. They seamlessly fit into an eclectic, modern, or design-oriented interior.
