Iconic “Cornaro” sofa designed by Carlo Scarpa for Studio Simon in 1974, an emblematic example of the Venetian master's architectural and rigorous approach to furniture design.
The structure is made of solid iroko wood, with sculptural lines and perfectly calibrated proportions, while the seat has been completely restored and upholstered with a precious jacquard velvet signed Zimmer + Rohde, which enriches the surface with reflections and textures of great refinement.
Carlo Scarpa, famous for his collaborations with Venini in artistic glass and with Bernini in interior design, also held the role of artistic director of Studio Simon, founded by Dino Gavina.
The Cornaro fully reflects his design vision: a harmonious balance between form, material and detail.
This piece has been restored by specialized Italian artisans, who have respected its original proportions and materials. The combination of the iroko structure and the Zimmer + Rohde velvet gives the piece a sculptural and sophisticated presence, ideal for contemporary environments or historical design collections.
