Private sellerProduct description
This is a comprehensive Danish dining set from the 1950s, a defining period for Scandinavian design. The set includes a significant dining table designed by Helge Vestergaard Jensen for the manufacturer Søren Holm, paired with eleven dining chairs attributed to designer Erik Wørts. The consistent use of richly grained rosewood across all pieces establishes a cohesive and historically important ensemble.
The table features a clean rectangular top that showcases the dramatic figuring of the rosewood, supported by elegantly sculpted Y-shaped legs that are a hallmark of Vestergaard Jensen's work. The eleven accompanying chairs by Erik Wørts are crafted from matching rosewood. They feature woven cane backrests for flexible support and comfort, complemented by seat pads upholstered in black leather, creating a sophisticated contrast in texture and color.
As a vintage collection from the mid-20th century, the set has acquired a character and patina that speaks to its history. The rosewood retains its deep, warm tones, and the overall construction of both the table and chairs remains solid. The set presents as a complete and well-preserved example of high-quality Danish cabinetmaking from this influential era.
This dining set is perfectly suited to anchor a dining room with a focus on Mid-Century Modern or Scandinavian aesthetics. Its generous size and number of chairs make it ideal for hosting large gatherings, serving as both a functional dining suite and a statement of classic design history.
