Designed in the 1970s by Marzio Cecchi, this bespoke set of dining armchairs was conceived for a specific interior and table, reflecting the designer’s holistic approach to space and furniture. Crafted in walnut with cognac leather upholstery, the chairs reveal Cecchi’s sculptural sensibility: bold, architectural frames softened by rounded transitions and generous seating proportions. The dialogue between the depth of the walnut and the warmth of the leather underscores his preference for noble, tactile materials and carefully resolved detailing.
Marzio Cecchi was an architect, interior designer, furniture designer, and artist whose practice was defined by custom production and a refusal of standardization. Each project was developed as a complete environment, with furniture designed and fabricated to measure in high-quality materials. His work occupies a singular position within Italian postmodern design, balancing expressive form with structural clarity. After his untimely death in 1990 at the age of forty-two, his legacy continued through his sister, Pola Margherita Cecchi, who now leads MOST Firenze.
