Manufactured by Digoin Sarreguemines in the early 20th century, this deep green glazed slipware pitcher is entirely covered with a relief decoration imitating woven basketry. The horizontal willow strands and vertical supports are rendered with remarkable precision, creating a striking trompe-l'œil effect. The green glaze, with shades ranging from celadon to deep green depending on the thickness of the glaze application, accentuates the relief and gives the piece a distinctive presence. The handle, also latticed, extends the decoration consistently. The pinched spout and the undulating rim imitate the edge of a basket. The interior is glazed in brilliant green. Height 14 cm. The base bears the printed stamp “Digoin Sarreguemines France 7308”. A terracotta chip is visible at the bottom of the body, openly disclosed and visible in the photos. Placed on a country dresser, a wooden shelf, or a kitchen table, this pitcher brings the warmth of green and the texture of weaving into an interior. Light plays on the relief with particular intensity.
