Product description
"La Boule" dinnerware set by Helen von Boch for Villeroy & Boch, Avant Garde collection, circa 1971. An icon of 1970s German design, "La Boule" — also known as "Die Kugel" — was conceived by Helen von Boch for Villeroy & Boch. Fully assembled, the set takes the form of a sculptural sphere; once unfurled, each of its elements becomes a functional piece of dinnerware. Made of glazed earthenware, this example features a typically seventies palette combining olive green, bright yellow, and orange. Plates, bowls, small bowls, and platters ingeniously nest within each other to reassemble the sphere. Complete set comprising 19 pieces. Original model from the Avant Garde collection, made in Germany. Elements stamped "Villeroy & Boch – Avant Garde – Made in Germany". Helen von Boch for Villeroy & Boch, Germany, 1971.
