Forensic Audit & Validation
This Syamatara, the Buddhist goddess of active compassion, has been subjected to a comprehensive technical inspection. Although the object follows classical iconographic canons, material markers indicate a manufacture in the late 20th century (c. 1990).
Material & Dehydration:
The alloy shows a stable surface structure without the deep mineral crystallization characteristic of antique castings. The relatively thin wall thickness indicates modern precision casting.
Microscopy (Dino-Lite):
Analysis of the inner rim and ornamentation reveals parallel mechanical abrasion marks, consistent with finishing by rotating instruments. The gold layer shows an even density, indicating a modern application process.
UV Analysis:
Under 365nm UV light, the patina reacts with uniform fluorescence, confirming the presence of modern chemical accelerators for color formation.
Rabné/Consecration:
The object is unsealed (open base). The interior has been completely cleaned of core residues, allowing for a direct inspection of the casting process.
Iconography
The goddess is depicted in lalitasana, with her right foot resting on a lotus support, ready to spring into action. Her hands form the vitarka and varada mudra, while she flanks the utpala (blue lotus). The aesthetic reflects the high-quality craftsmanship tradition of the Patan Valley in Nepal.
