Description
Derk Jan de Fries was a Dutch designer who emigrated to Italy. Very little biographical information about the designer is known today. He worked for the Italian manufacturer Maisa Di Seveso Milano. His "Samara" series, developed in 1977, is his most famous work. Characteristic of this meticulously detailed design are the elegant and beautifully shaped corners. The pieces are made entirely of solid ash wood and covered with Viennese cane webbing. The table can be extended using an ingenious folding mechanism, providing optimal seating for the six chairs. A set like this in such excellent condition is extremely rare and a true collector's item.
