On the lid, a court lady bows towards a gentleman in Louis XV attire. Around them, peonies and scrollwork in high relief extend to the corners of the box. Light plays in the hollows of the silver-plated metal, bringing these scenes to life as if they had just been chased. Rectangular box with a two-part hinged lid, on four console feet. Body and lid entirely in repoussé and chased silver-plated metal. 18th-century style gallant scenes in the center, framed by scrollwork of flowers and foliage in high relief. Relief medallion on the front. Unfinished metal interior. Smooth textured bottom. Approximate dimensions 15 x 10 x 7 cm. Historicism style production, 20th century, imitating the Rococo Louis XV style. This type of repoussé silver-plated metal box with gallant scenes is characteristic of Central European decorative arts workshops from the years . Wear and patina consistent with age.
