Product description
Beautiful vintage sideboard model ‘DE01’, designed by Cees Braakman and produced by Pastoe in the 1950s. This model is part of Pastoe's Eikenserie, a furniture collection made entirely of oak wood. The DE01 is the smaller variant of the DE02, which features two doors.
This piece comes from the original family. It was the first cabinet the previous owner's parents bought in the 1950s and has remained within the family ever since. After more than seventy years, the cabinet was sold due to lack of space.
The sideboard has been fully restored in our workshop. The oak wood has been carefully sanded and nourished, then finished with a protective silk-matte finish. The wood grain is beautifully visible again, and the wood has regained its warm appearance. The cabinet is in excellent condition again, although we deliberately did not remove all traces of its long history. The characteristic patina has been preserved and gives the sideboard precisely the look that belongs to a well-preserved vintage piece of furniture.
The design of the DE01 is sober and clear, with rounded corners that give the design a softer look. The cabinet stands on two wide, solid-looking legs that give the whole an almost architectural appearance. At the front, there is a door with storage space and four drawers with Braakman's dust-free construction. The wooden handles are subtly integrated into the fronts and give a somewhat playful character.
A rare piece of Dutch design with a special story. An early design by Cees Braakman, preserved within one family and now, more than seventy years later, restored and ready to become part of a new story.
