Product description
This is a Kangaroo armchair, designed by the Swiss architect Hans Eichenberger for the esteemed manufacturer De Sede. The piece is a significant example of mid-century European design, celebrated for its innovative construction and minimalist aesthetic that combines structural clarity with seating comfort. The armchair is constructed with a continuous tubular frame made of polished chrome, which provides both support and a distinct visual lightness. The seating consists of a sling back and seat made from a durable brown textile, over which loose cushions upholstered in a taupe-grey leather are placed. This combination of materials creates a sophisticated contrast in both colour and texture, characteristic of Eichenberger's design philosophy. This particular chair is in a good, vintage condition, showing a character consistent with its age and history. The leather upholstery has developed a natural patina and softness over time, while the chrome frame remains bright and structurally sound. The overall presentation is one of an authentic and well-preserved piece of design history. With its timeless silhouette, the Kangaroo armchair is well-suited for a variety of interior settings. It can serve as a distinctive lounge chair in a living room, a comfortable reading chair in a study, or an accent piece in a space curated with Mid-Century Modern or contemporary design.
