The Lotto Studio daybed is a striking example of contemporary furniture design that blends industrial rigor with sculptural elegance. This design is characterized by its clean lines and deliberate reduction to essential geometric forms, giving the piece a strong architectural presence.
The structure rests on a solid metal frame in a cool gray tone, which gains a functional character through visible screws and an integrated, floating shelf. In contrast to the cool structure is the softly upholstered sleeping surface, finished in a gentle yellow hue and complemented by a cylindrical neck roll. The combination of robust metal and the smooth, tactile surface of the upholstery creates a balanced interplay between industrial hardness and homely comfort.
This daybed integrates seamlessly into minimalist or industrial-style interiors. It is ideal as a freestanding piece in a spacious living area, an open loft, or a modern study, where it serves both as a functional retreat and a visual focal point of the room.
The daybed was made for the "Vignettes" exhibition in the new AM TACHELES urban quarter in Berlin-Mitte. The exhibition, which ran until 2025, presented radical interior design. Three international design studios (Fernando Laposse, Lotto Studio, and studioutte) created striking, sculptural pieces for the event.
