Product description
A Danish bed from the 1960s that embodies the refined simplicity of Scandinavian design from its golden era. Teak veneer lends the piece a warm, amber-brown tone distinctive to Danish furniture production, while the slender silhouette ensures the bed remains visually light within the bedroom space.
The design balances formal clarity with thoughtful engineering. Four tapered solid wood legs support the frame, creating the optical lightness characteristic of Danish modernism. The headboard and footboard form full veneered panels, angled gently outward to introduce subtle dynamism without disrupting the calm aesthetic. A slatted base comes included as part of the set, and the demountable construction simplifies transport and assembly.
The 1960s marked a period when Danish manufacturers perfected the art of combining craftsman precision with accessible design. Teak, primarily sourced from Southeast Asia, became the defining material of the era — valued for its durability, moisture resistance, and distinguished grain patterns. Danish producers developed veneering techniques that made economical use of this precious timber while maintaining visual consistency across surfaces.
The bed accommodates a mattress measuring 85 by 190 centimetres, making it suitable for single use or as guest room furniture. The compact overall width allows placement even in modestly sized interiors, while the included slatted base eliminates the need for a separate foundation purchase.
The piece is in good condition, showing minor scratches and small surface chips in the veneer consistent with over fifty years of use. Small losses have been filled during conservation. The more noticeable traces of use are also documented in the photographs, so that the actual state of preservation is conveyed as faithfully as possible.
