Danish Rosewood Wall System, Denmark, 1960s This Danish wall system from the 1960s combines a light architectural structure with the expressive character of rosewood. Two slender wall-mounted rails form the framework, allowing the individual components to be positioned at different heights. The open construction keeps the composition visually light while providing a practical combination of display space and enclosed storage. Two shelves are supported by finely formed brass brackets, their restrained geometry creating a subtle contrast with the richly figured rosewood. Particularly notable is the selection and arrangement of the veneer. The shelves show deep, flowing grain, while the top of the lower cabinet displays an exceptionally expressive pattern with pronounced dark figuring. The cabinet itself is suspended between the rails, reinforcing the floating quality of the overall design. The lower cabinet is fitted with two sliding doors, each with small circular recessed pulls. Behind the doors, the interior is divided into two compartments with shelves, providing discreet storage beneath the open shelving. The continuous rosewood surfaces, carefully finished edges and restrained detailing give the system a coherent and distinctly Danish character. The complete system has been fully restored, carefully cleaned and inspected. The rosewood has been treated with a high-quality furniture oil after restoration, restoring depth and warmth to the grain while retaining the natural character of the material. The brass supports retain their aged surface and patina, providing an understated counterpoint to the restored wood.
