Product description
Danish corner cabinet from the 1970s, finished in rosewood veneer. This piece combines secure storage with everyday functionality within a single compact form. The distinctive angular design, characteristic of Scandinavian furniture from this period, makes use of corner spaces that conventional furniture often leaves neglected.
The structure divides into three zones. The upper section locks with a key, protecting contents from casual access. A middle open shelf with an angled front creates a display surface for items that need to stay within reach. Below, four drawers feature sculpted fronts that form a continuous, organic line across the facade. Solid wood legs lift the body from the floor, lending visual lightness to the substantial form.
The 1970s marked a period of refinement in Danish furniture design. The principles established during the mid-century golden age were being adapted to new living conditions — smaller apartments where every square metre needed to serve a purpose. Corner furniture emerged as a practical response to these spatial constraints. Rosewood remained a favoured material throughout Scandinavian design of this era, prized for its rich colour depth and distinctive grain patterns that brought warmth to minimalist interiors.
This corner cabinet suits bedrooms, studies, or hallways where a full-sized chest would overwhelm the space. The lockable upper compartment accommodates documents or items requiring protection from dust. The drawers provide organised storage for stationery, accessories, or linens. Key included with the piece.
The cabinet is in good condition, showing minor scratches and small chips consistent with age. Small losses have been filled. The more noticeable traces of use are also documented in the photographs, so that the actual state of preservation is conveyed as faithfully as possible.
