Product description
A Danish modular shelving system from the 1970s, representing the mature phase of Scandinavian systematic furniture design. The slender construction, built around two vertical wall-mounted rails, creates an almost graphic form that integrates seamlessly into any interior rather than dominating it. Teak veneer in a warm, characteristic tone lends the piece the refined elegance associated with Danish design of that era. The system follows a proven principle: vertical rails fixed to the wall provide the framework onto which shelves are mounted at any desired height. This set includes five shelves in two depths — the shallower ones suited for display, the deeper for books and albums. Each element can be repositioned freely, allowing the configuration to evolve with changing needs, while the modular nature of the system invites expansion with additional segments. The 1970s marked a culmination of Danish thinking about furniture as a flexible tool for organising living space. Wall-mounted systems, developed by Danish designers since the previous decade, answered the realities of evolving lifestyles — smaller apartments demanded pieces that could grow alongside their owners and adapt to new functions. Danish workshops combined craft-level execution with the democratic ideal of good design accessible to a broader audience. The shelving unit works equally well in a living room, study, or bedroom. The deeper shelves — twenty-five centimetres — accommodate standard books and binders, while the shallower ones suit frames, small ceramics, or record collections. The tall, narrow silhouette occupies minimal wall space yet offers considerable display area. The piece is in good condition, with minor scratches and small chips consistent with a piece from the 1970s. Small losses have been filled. The more noticeable traces of use are also documented in the photographs, so that the actual state of preservation is conveyed as faithfully as possible.
