Product description
This Danish Mid-Century Modern architectural armchair from the 1960s exemplifies the rigorous geometry and functional elegance of the era. The piece is defined by its sharp, linear silhouette and exposed structural elements, making it a striking example of Scandinavian design principles.
Constructed with a solid stained oak frame, the chair features a warm brown finish that contrasts effectively with the black skai upholstery. The seat and backrest are tailored with button-tufted detailing, adding a refined textural element to the austere wooden structure. Exposed metal hardware on the reverse highlights the architectural approach to its assembly, a hallmark of honest mid-century craftsmanship. The country of origin is Denmark, reflecting the period's dedication to high-quality production and enduring materials.
The armchair remains in good vintage condition, preserving its structural integrity and original character. The wooden frame displays a natural patina consistent with age, while the upholstery retains its form and deep colouration. It stands as a fully functional and aesthetically compelling piece of design history.
This armchair is well-suited to a variety of interior environments, from dedicated mid-century collections to contemporary living spaces. It serves effectively as a standalone reading chair in a study or as a complementary seating option within a broader lounge arrangement.
