About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is the Dandelight, a light sculpture designed by Lonneke Gordijn for Studio DRIFT. The object is a poetic exploration of the relationship between nature and technology. The design transforms the ephemeral beauty of a dandelion into a sustainable light object.
The Dandelight is handmade in the Netherlands and combines delicate, real dandelion seeds with a phosphor bronze base. Each seed is carefully hand-attached to a small LED, causing the entire flower to light up when connected to the included 9V battery. The design dates from 2010 and is presented under a protective glass dome.
This specific piece is part of a numbered series, emphasizing its collector's value. It is in excellent condition, with the fragile structure of the dandelion remaining completely intact. The combination of the natural, organic form and the industrial components creates a unique visual character.
As a sculptural work of art, the Dandelight is a subtle eye-catcher for a sideboard, desk, or display cabinet. The object adds an element of wonder to a modern, minimalist, or eclectic interior and functions as both a decorative object and an atmospheric light source.
