This cylindrical vase was made in the 1970s by the renowned Danish manufacturer Knabstrup.
A ceramic vase of cylindrical form, produced by Knabstrup – a renowned Danish manufacturer with a tradition dating back to the 19th century, valued for its quality and distinctive glazes. The piece is covered in a deep cobalt-navy glaze with characteristic organic drips and a relief texture. The decoration has an almost abstract, painterly quality – typical of mid-century Scandinavian artistic ceramics. The simple, architectural form combined with the expressive surface creates an object that balances between sculpture and a functional vessel. This is an example of Danish functional modernism – simplicity of form, an emphasis on the material, and the interplay of light on the glaze.
