Charming cup and saucer from Porcelaine de Paris, a manufacturer founded in 1771, featuring the Florentino pattern. Against a soft ivory background, large bouquets of polychrome flowers unfurl. Orange, mauve, and blue flowers, green foliage, and small purple berries create an exuberant and joyful floral composition, very characteristic of the 1970s-1980s taste for colorful and warm designs. The shape of the cup, ample and generous, is that of a large café au lait or tea cup. The saucer features the same floral pattern on its rim. The technique is the hallmark of the brand: porcelain covered with a satin stoneware enamel, matte and soft to the touch, which gives the colors a particular depth and staying power. The reverse bears the full stamp of Porcelaine de Paris, founded in 1771, with the mention of the Florentino pattern and the word France. Porcelaine de Paris is one of the oldest French manufacturers still in operation. Founded under Louis XVI, it has spanned centuries, adapting its designs to the tastes of each era. The Florentino pattern, with its warm palette and blooming flowers, fully belongs to the aesthetic of the 1970s, a period when French tableware rediscovered a taste for vibrant colors and generous compositions.
