Set of 4 Dutch cube armchairs by renowned woodworker Ate van Apeldoorn, designed and handmade in the 1970s in his own studio in Hattem, the Netherlands.
Ate van Apeldoorn's designs are characterized by a certain robustness, thanks to the use of pine and the abstract geometry of many of his pieces.
The square, geometric shape of the pine frame truly stands out. The wood joints of the slats are visible on the outer edges, a typical characteristic of Van Apeldoorn designs. The seat and backrest are slightly tilted within the square frame, creating an interesting geometric contrast. The chairs are upholstered in cream-colored leather. The construction is very solid.
The chairs are in good condition, with only minor signs of wear.
A beautiful find of Dutch mid-century design!
