An iconic Costes chair, designed by French designer Philippe Starck in 1984 for the Italian manufacturer Driade. This design was originally intended for the eponymous Café Costes in Paris and marked the beginning of Starck's international recognition. The chair is characterized by its striking, enveloping backrest of curved wood with a warm finish. The frame is made of black lacquered metal and has a unique three-legged construction, a conscious choice by Starck to prevent café staff from tripping over it. The seat is upholstered in black leather, creating an elegant contrast with the wood. This piece is in good vintage condition consistent with its age and use. The original materials and finishes have been preserved, giving the chair its authentic character and patina. The construction is solid and the chair is fully functional. As an important piece from the design history of the 1980s, the Costes chair is a versatile piece of furniture. It functions excellently as a dining chair, as a solitary object in a living room, or as a stylish addition to an office or study. A very small repair occurred, as you can see. However, it is very inconspicuous and not disturbing.
