Private sellerProduct description
This is the Zyklus armchair, an iconic design by Peter Maly for the German manufacturer Cor. The piece is a striking example of postmodern design from the 1980s, characterized by its bold geometric shapes and contrast in materials. The design combines an industrial frame with the comfort of a lounge chair, resulting in an expressive and functional piece of furniture. The construction consists of a chrome-plated metal frame that smoothly transitions into the legs, with striking wheels with chrome covers at the rear. The seat and backrest are upholstered in black leather, while the cylindrical headrest is made of contrasting brown leather. The armrests are partly wrapped, adding a tactile detail to the shiny metal. This armchair was produced in Germany, as indicated on the original Cor label. The overall condition of the armchair is consistent with its age and use. The black leather of the seat and backrest is well preserved. The chrome frame is structurally solid and retains its shine. The headrest shows clear signs of wear, which gives the piece a lived-in character and offers an opportunity for re-upholstery to one's own taste. As a distinctive design object, this Zyklus armchair functions excellently as a solitary eye-catcher in a living room, study, or creative space. It fits seamlessly into an interior with a postmodern, eclectic, or industrial aesthetic and makes for an interesting conversation piece for lovers of design history.
