We offer for sale a rare and fascinating pair of vintage sculptures, authentic "curiosities" crafted in the Anglo-Indian style around the mid-1950s.
These unique works of art represent the meeting of Asian metalwork craftsmanship and Western collectors' taste.
Each piece is an exclusive creation that transforms a natural shell (likely a Nautilus or Turbo), with iridescent nacre, into the body of a regal swan.
The metal parts (necks, heads, and bases) are crafted from metal (likely silvered), expertly embossed, chiseled, and engraved with intricate and detailed patterns, demonstrating the mastery of Southeast Asian artisans. An intentional dark patina enhances the relief workmanship, lending them a vintage and authentic character.
