Private sellerProduct description
This is an original artwork by Dennis Thomson, crafted from repoussé copper and mounted on a wooden panel. The work depicts a detailed, three-dimensional representation of a protea flower, an iconic floral motif reflecting the South African origin of the piece.
The artwork is made of pure copper, as indicated on the label on the back. The image is hand-embossed, a technique known as repoussé, creating a striking texture and depth. The piece was produced by H.T. Enterprises in former Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and is an authentic Dennis Thomson original. The warm copper color is accentuated by a darker patina in the deeper areas, which emphasizes the details of the design.
The overall condition of the work is excellent, retaining its original finish and characteristic relief. The copper is bright and the details are sharp, testifying to the quality of the craftsmanship. The wooden frame is sturdy and provides a fitting border for the metalwork.
This decorative panel adds an element of vintage charm and craftsmanship to an interior. It fits well in an environment with Mid-Century, rustic, or eclectic style elements and can serve as a subtle but interesting accent in a living room, study, or hallway.
