About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a vintage console table from the 1970s, crafted in the distinctive Space Age style. Its two-tiered structure and contrasting materials capture the forward-looking aesthetic of the era, defined by sculptural forms and innovative material use. The piece is a strong example of Italian design from the period, blending functionality with a bold, graphic silhouette.
The console features a main body constructed with a white lacquered finish, which provides a clean, futuristic shell. This is contrasted by the warm tones of the wood veneer that lines the interior surfaces and back panel, creating visual depth and interest. The design is characterized by its soft, rounded corners and a large, arched cutout in the lower section, typical of Space Age furniture that prioritized organic and flowing lines over sharp angles. This combination of materials and form makes it a versatile and eye-catching piece.
In its original vintage condition, the console retains the authentic character of a piece from its time. The structural integrity is sound, and the surfaces reflect a history of use that contributes to its story. It stands as a testament to the durable construction and enduring design principles of the 1970s.
This console table is well-suited for an entryway, living room, or hallway, offering both display surfaces and a distinct stylistic statement. It would integrate seamlessly into interiors with a Mid-Century Modern, Retro, or eclectic theme, serving as a functional piece of design history.
