The ashtray has a calm, light-colored exterior made of hard, cool-to-the-touch plastic, with a separate metal interior that hinges within the cube. The metal insert is intended for use with ash, as is typical of this type of design. When closed, the object appears understated and almost closed; the structure only becomes visible when in use.
The design is attributed to Bruno Munari, who collaborated with Danese Milano in the 1960s and 1970s. The design reflects the Italian design practice of that period, which emphasized functionality, proportion, and the use of materials.
Its compact dimensions make it suitable as an ashtray, but also make it a small design accent on a desk, side table, or dresser. Even when unused, it retains its distinctive, almost sculptural appearance. Dimensions: 6 × 6 × 6 cm
