Hand-knotted Smyrna rug. This technique was all the rage in the 1970s. This rug features beautiful colors: orange, red, dark purple, black, navy, sky blue. The sizes are knotted in (see photo). The base threads are secured with a wide band at the bottom. In one spot, that band has been replaced by strong adhesive tape (see photo), but this is not visible from the top.
