Some objects don't need to justify themselves. This stein is one of them. Its color first, a cobalt blue of almost marine depth, which turns to midnight blue in the recesses of the design and brightens into lavender reflections on the edges. A shade that changes depending on the time and light, as if the piece were alive. The body, slightly flared towards the bottom, is entirely sculpted with a network of diamonds sharply carved into the clay before firing. Under the fingers, the relief is sharp, almost cutting. The double-knotted handle, characteristic of German artisanal productions, offers a firm and pleasant grip, that of an object designed to be held, used, loved. The base bears the stamped mark of the Blümlein workshop, established in Tettnang, Baden-Württemberg, a region with a long ceramic tradition on the shores of Lake Constance. A careful production from the second half of the 20th century, as solid as the objects we keep. Placed on a desk, it will hold pencils and pens with unexpected elegance. On a shelf, it will stand out on its own, or as part of a collection of blue ceramics. In a kitchen, it will return to its primary purpose, that of being grasped with a full hand. The piece is in very good condition, with no cracks or chips. Height: approximately 13 cm.
