Product description
This is a traditional Alsatian terracotta 'baeckeoffe' or pâté terrine, best known from regional French potteries such as Poterie Beck in the historic pottery village of Soufflenheim in Alsace. The dish is made of heavy, traditionally glazed earthenware (terracotta) that can withstand slow firing in the kiln. The prominent scalloped relief along the rim and the warm ochre-brown glaze are characteristic features of Alsatian pottery from the mid to late 20th century.
