Italian three-seater sofa Strips from the 70s/80s, designed in 1972 by Cini Boeri for Arflex. This example is in completely original condition and is exceptionally well preserved with only light signs of use.
The sofa is upholstered in sand-sage green fabric with a natural, matte appearance. The surface is characterized by the distinctive modular quilted structure, where regular seams emphasize the geometric composition of the design. The volume is constructed according to Boeri’s typical monovolume principle, with integrated armrests and a deep, carefully balanced seat. The proportions align seamlessly with the original design and the padding has retained its shape and stability, indicating careful use and still resulting in a very comfortable seating experience.
The Strips model is considered one of the most influential designs in Italian seating furniture of the second half of the 20th century. The design, awarded the Compasso d’Oro, introduced a radically new approach to comfort by viewing the sofa as a fluid, soft, and continuous volume, detached from traditional formal structures. With this, Strips marks an important turning point in the development of modern, domestic seating furniture.
