C2" chair by WILLY RIZZO, CIDUE edition, 1970s. Structures in chromed steel, high-quality cognac brown "saddle-stitched" saddle leather. Very comfortable, sprung seat (seat height: 42 cm). In good condition, leather slightly worn by use and time. One cap is missing. Discoloration in the leather. Biography:Italian artist Willy Rizzo (1928-2013) made his name as a photographer in the 1960s, in the 1970s he developed a passion for interior design and launched a second successful career as a designer of luxury furniture. Born in Naples in 1928, he began his career as a journalist in the 1940s, he was hired by France Dimanche to portray rich and famous personalities at events such as the Cannes Film Festival, opening doors to royalty, dignitaries. He photographed dozens of stars, Brigitte Bardot, Maria Callas, Salvador Dalí, Marlene Dietrich, Jane Fonda, Gene Kelly and Gregory Peck. He also befriended such figures as Coco Chanel, Christian Dior and Jack Nicholson. In 1962, he captured some of Marilyn Monroe's final moments. In 1968, Willy Rizzo began his career as a furniture designer in Rome. Initially for simple personal use, Willy Rizzo created a series of unique pieces inspired by modernist icons such as Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier. He gained an international reputation as a designer for the rich and famous. The team has 150 employees, stores in France and across Europe, in New York, Miami and Los Angeles.
