Christian Piper Pencil Drawing, original, nude drawing, signed 1967 40.5 x 27.0 (H x W) VITA Christian Piper * December 7, 1941 in Oels, Province of Lower Silesia; † 2019 in Eisenach was a German artist. Piper studied at the art school in Aachen together with Bauhaus students of Paul Klee and Johannes Itten as well as at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen Werden (BA. Art 1970). In the 1970s, he specialized in painting, went to New York and became an assistant to Milton Glaser at Push Pin Studio, which at the time was a leader in graphic design and illustration. Piper was soon working for the New York Times, the New Yorker and Vogue, designing books and album covers, including for several Rolling Stones LPs. He later turned more and more to fine art. He created sculptures and various cycles of drawings and paintings. He returned to Germany in 2005 to live and work in Berlin and Görlitz.
