Product description
Decorative Chinese porcelain koro from the late 20th century, executed in a richly decorated Satsuma style for the export market. The spherical vessel rests on three gilded feet and has a matching lid with openwork ventilation holes for incense smoke. Object Details Origin: China, export production Dating: approx. 1980–1990 Material: porcelain with polychrome enamel decoration and gold accents Dimensions: H 12 × W 10 × D 7.5 cm Weight: 200 g Mark: PF Handpainted Decoration The main reserves show richly dressed women in kimono-like robes within a landscape with blossoms, flowers, and architectural elements. Dark blue floral fields, raised gold lines, and a finely crackled ivory-colored glaze give the vessel the opulent appearance derived from Japanese Satsuma decoration. Design and Function The lid features multiple openwork ventilation holes and the interior is fully glazed. Therefore, the object can be used as a small incense burner, but it also stands strong as a standalone decorative object. Mark and Condition The export/decorator's mark "PF Handpainted" is on the underside. This is not a traditional Japanese Satsuma studio marking and is consistent with Chinese export production from the late 20th century. Good vintage condition with light signs of use and surface wear; the decorative craquelure is part of the finish.
