About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a Chinese camphor wood chest, an export piece from the mid-20th century. The object is characterized by deep, hand-carved woodwork depicting traditional scenes.
Manufactured in South China, presumably between 1930 and 1960, this chest combines traditional craftsmanship with Art Deco influences, visible in the design of the legs. The chest is made of aromatic camphor wood and finished with a brass lock. The smooth, oval panels on the front and lid offer a contrast to the richly decorated surfaces.
