About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is the iconic 'China Chair', designed by the Danish master Hans J. Wegner and produced by Fritz Hansen. This specific piece, model FH4283, is a modern interpretation of the classic Chinese chairs from the Ming Dynasty, showcasing Wegner's profound understanding of woodworking and ergonomics.
This chair was manufactured in 1990, as indicated on the original manufacturer's label, and was made in Denmark. The frame is constructed from a light wood type, with the characteristic backrest and armrest formed from a single piece of steam-bent wood. The chair comes with the original, loose seat cushion, upholstered in brown leather with a tufted finish. Beneath the cushion is a seat of woven webbing that provides flexible comfort.
The chair is in good condition consistent with its age, retaining its original finish. The wood has developed a subtle patina over the years, contributing to the character of the furniture. The construction is solid and the chair is fully functional, including the original leather cushion.
With its sculptural form and timeless aesthetic, the China Chair functions both as a comfortable dining chair and an elegant, freestanding object in a living room or study. It is a classic of Scandinavian design that effortlessly fits into various interior styles.
