Product description
This ceramic vase was made in the 1960s in Germany. A striking mid-century vase – the ‘W. Germany’ mark on the base clearly confirms its origin. Its slender form, with a distinctive handle and a slightly tapering neck, is very typical of functional designs from that period. The greatest strength of this piece lies in its glaze – a contrasting, organic composition of deep brown and a flowing, creamy-white layer with a slightly grainy, ‘lava-like’ texture. Effects of this kind were one of the most recognisable hallmarks of West German ceramics, where colour and texture played a leading role, often creating a unique, one-of-a-kind effect on each piece. It fits perfectly with the aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s, particularly when paired with wood, brutalist forms and natural materials. It can serve both as a vase and as a standalone sculptural form. Condition: preserved in its original state; may have minor scratches and normal signs of wear. Technical data height: 47 cm width: 16 cm depth: 16 cm
